How it works
Measure a fall relative to the starting value. For a positive starting value, a positive answer means a decrease and a negative answer means an increase. Negative baselines use the signed formula literally, so the direction of the result reverses.
Decrease = ((starting − ending) ÷ starting) × 100For example 100 → 75 = 25% decrease.

Good questions. Simple answers.
What does a negative decrease mean?
From 100 to 125 the decrease is −25%. In other words, the quantity increased by 25%.
Can the decrease exceed 100%?
Yes, if a positive starting value becomes negative: from 100 to −50 the decrease is 150%. A zero baseline is undefined. Negative baselines use the formula literally: from −100 to −50 the decrease is 50%, even though the ending value is numerically larger.
